ein großartiges Buch über einen wundervollen Film....am Ende sieht man ihn innerlich in all den Versionen vor sich, wie er hätte werden können... ich finde das ungeheuer bereichernd... die Meisterschaft der Zeichner und Animationskünstler ist einfach unbeschreiblich...man möchte viele einzelne Elemente der Storyboards vergrößern und als zutiefst poetische Gemälde an die Wand hängen... oder man möchte jubeln über die vielen verrückten Einfälle, insbesondere in Bezug auf die Menschen an Bord der Axiom - das wäre echt das visuelle Ausgangsmaterial für die besten und ausgeflipptesten Kinderbücher der letzten 50 Jahre. Genial !Fast kommt mir das alles wie eine 'Verschwendung' vor, aber es ist ja im Grunde nicht verloren, wird hier in diesem Buch, und sicher auch anderswo dokumentiert und ist ja letztlich in das phantastische Endprodukt geflossen, hat also diesem Zweck gedient... Aber manchmal träumt man schon davon, was das für einen herrlichen alternativen Film ergeben hätte.Also wie gesagt, in meinem Kopf existieren jetzt auf einmal mindestens 12 Versionen des Films, und ich finde das klasse.Der Text ist übrigens auch nicht zu unterschätzen - da sind so viele schöne, menschlich tiefe Gedanken drin.. Allein das wundervolle Zitat von Andrew Stanton auf der Seite mit dem Portrait von EVE (Film-version) in dem er von der Roboterhaftigkeit der Menschen spricht, die nur durch gütiges Handeln, Liebe, Freude etc aufgelöst werden kann, so wie EVE's extrem maschinelles Leben erst anders werden konnte, durch jemanden (Wall-E), der sie 'erweckt' - ja, so wie Wall-E selbst im Grunde durch etwas erweckt wurde - was aber, und ich finde das den geheimnisvollen Kern des ganzen Films, ein Geheimnis bleibt....Man erfährt ja nicht, wer oder was in diesen 700 Jahren diese Bewegung zur 'Menschlichkeit' in ihm ausgelöst hat.. ich persönlich glaube, dass es diese kleine Insekt, sein 'Haustier' war, das vielleicht irgendwie seine Hilfe brauchte, vielleicht einfach seine Nähe suchte... so wie Wall-E ja EVE braucht und ihre Nähe sucht - dieser Apell an ihr noch-mechanisches Herz- und es kann auch die Musik gewesen sein, die er jeden Abend hoeren muss um schlafen zu können.... so wie Musik/Kunst etc ja ohnehin schon viele Menschen zu mehr Menschlichkeit erweckt hat....Und dieser Film tut das auch.

 This book carried a much darker tone due to the environment -- Earth with tons of trash. The colour palette from the movie was limited to very dark tones. This book isn't as colourful compared to other Pixar art books as a result. But that is not a bad thing.There are a few pages right up front on visual storytelling. It provides a nice introduction into the conceptualizing of the movie, and into producing a movie where the main characters have with no dialogue.In the first chapter "Cinematic Dictation", it talks about how storyboards helps make the movie. Included in this chapter are lots of storyboards in different styles by different artists."Trash Planet" is the name of the second chapter. It also happens to be the same name for the movie for more than ten years before it was changed to WALL-E. Here we have sketches, paintings and colorscripts for the trash filled environment WALL-E was set in. There are also character designs for WALL-E and EVE. It's amazing to look at these paintings and see how they have evolved into actual movie scenes.The last chapter is called "The Axiom". It contains concept art for the spaceship, robots, interiors. There are also discarded ideas such as using alien blobs instead of humans.Missing from this book are pastel drawings, the common ingredient found in Pixar art books. Ralph Eggleston, production designer for Finding Nemo, changed to a different style!This is another marvelous art book for any Pixar fan.There are more pictures on my blog. Bin ein großer Pixar Fan als auch ein Freund von Making-Off Büchern.Im Vergleich zu anderen "art off" Erscheinungen ist diese Ausgabe aber reichlich müde.Die meissten Zeichnungen sind schnelle Storyboard Layouts, schöne Detailzeichnungen zum Character Developement oder Beschreibungen zu Licht und Atmosphäre (die bei diesem Film besonders viel Aufmerksamkeit erfahren haben) sind leider ausgeblieben.Habe gerade eben auch das Making Off Buch von Kung Fu Panda bekommen, das bei weiten interessantern und reichhaltiger ist.Wall'E als Film super - das Buch zum Film leider nicht
